Jesus Hernandez – Rigidity of curve complexes on compact surface and on infinite surfaces Carte non disponible Date/heure Date(s) - 13 décembre 2013 Catégories Pas de Catégories The curve complex of a compact surface is an object that was first introduced to aid in obtaining results concerning the mapping class group of a surface. Since then it has spawned several other combinatorial models, properties and results concerning what can be called the “Combinatorial rigidity problem of mapping class groups”. In this talk we will (briefly) review the necessary preliminaries to introduce the concepts of mapping class groups and curve complexes, followed by an overview of the brief history of the results concerning these two. IF there is time we might also review similar results and impediments in the case of infinite surfaces.
