We extract the so called waterbag hydrodynamic reductions utilizing generalised functions. This approach is applicable for integrable and non-integrable kinetic equations. Then we generalise waterbag reductions to hydrodynamic reductions parameterized by arbitrary functions of a single variable. This approach is applicable to integrable collisionless kinetic equations only.
